I'm starting to gather gear for a foray into 4x5, and I'm getting around to the actual camera. I've been waffling between a 3d-printed 'snapshot' camera like the WillTravel/Mercury and a press camera with at least some slight movements, and I suppose I'm leaning toward the latter.

My preference would be a Burke and James Speed Press, since it has a bit of front tilt, but at the moment all I really care about is price. As far as lenses go, I don't really care and would almost rather not have one. I've already got a cheapo Angulon 90/6.8 and have my sights set on a Fujinon 135/5.6.

(I know DirkFletcher has a nice Crown Graphic in the FS forum right now, but it's well over my budget and I'm more interested in wider lenses!)

Maybe about $200? Most of what I'm looking at on eBay is hovering around that number. Not set in stone, though.

I ended up getting a rough-looking but healthy-bellowed B&J Press for $100, which came with a functioning Grafmatic. Finally I find a seller who doesn't bother to look up what they're selling! It works fine with some issues:

1) The back is designed in such a way that standard holders (and the Grafmatic) won't seat properly. The frame is just a bit too wide to fit in...whatever you call the indented space at the 'top' of film holders.
2) The bed does poke into the bottom of the frame with the 90mm at infinity, and using the drop bed won't let the lens move back far enough to get to infinity. I could try a recessed board at some point, but can I really be bothered?

All in all, should be a fun rehab project.
