I've been using two sheets of glass from thrift store picture frames held with binder clips. works very well. A piece of felt would make it work even better.

A piece of plywood or MDF with some thin foam (possibly A/C filter foam) and a glass cover should give super results. Keep a eye out for an old Sears contact printer, they can be had for next to nothing.
