I finally made the jump to bulk loading and I'm hoping to track down some 400iso DX coded reloadable cassettes so I can shoot some HP5 in my P&S. Hoping to get 5 to 10 if anyone has any available that they'd be willing to part with. Thanks

Hi John,

Honestly never even occurred to me to try "hacking" the coding! Literally just started bulk loading. Hadn't done any research other than doing the math on film costs and given the cost benefit I bought some film and loaders. Hadn't even thought of the DX coding until I wanted to shoot some HP5 in my Stylus Epic Deluxe. Thanks for the link. Porters is closed, but did find that a UK company still sells the stickers or may see about trying to make my own. Thanks

PS - Still interested in purchasing some coded cassettes if anyone has any.

Good ideas in the instructable. You can also use the aluminum type duct tape cut to the side of the DX code and then add patches of electrical tape for the black areas.

One big question before I try hacking it, how can I tell if my hack as worked with an Oly Stylus Epic? I would rather find out ahead of time then after developing a roll of shots I'm excited about.

Do you have access to DX capable SLR to test a cassette in?

Some cameras use optical sensing some electrical conductivity

Nope. My next "newest" camera is an F2 Photomic from 1977

What about taping to the cut end of used cartridges.? If you have a lab in town that develops anything besides disposable cameras.

And those are free, although it will take getting a lot to get 20 400 speed.

I had the local walgreens save them for me, which really confused some of the young employees when i picked them up!

Typos made on a tiny phone...

Hmmmm, I do have a few rolls of Arista Premium 400 left in the fridge that are DX coded. Perhaps I can try fudging a reload of those?

You can get a velvet less cassette for the F2...

I had looked at those, but I ended up getting 20 brand new Kalt metal cassettes for less than the price of one of those. None of this solves the DX coding though.

Someone suggested taping to the remaining leader. That works pretty well for lots of people, just leave a couple of inches & you're good to go.

Took a while, but finally got some!
