WT-5 alternative Wi-Fi solution for Nikon D4?

Is there an useable alternative for the WT-5 for Nikon D4 cameras? The $700 for the WT-5 price tag is to high for me.

I have found a few solutions but either they are not reliable or they require a third party wireless.

Is there cheaper solution so I can control a D4 remotely?

I wouldnt know of a direct and easy solution. I know however there is being worked on a wireless usb interface. It is suposed to be a sort of wifi adapter with host control(the ability to host usb devices). But i dont think there are currently any end user products available.

Now if your not afraid of some diy work. Ive seen projects of people building raspberry pi's into a battery grip. These boards are able to run simple linux distributions. On which you could run Entangle Tethered Camera Control & Capture. A tool similar to what Nikon or Canon deliver for Windows/Mac to remote control your camera. You could then on its term use a remote desktop aplication to acces this tool from your desktop or laptop.

As said this would require a fairly good knowledge of IT and electronics. But it surely isnt impossible. if you feel up to the job, i think you could make such a device for say 100-150 euro's. Aprox 130-200 usd. Google on "raspberry pi battery grip" for idea's and inspiration.
