I got this body as a back up to my other P67. ran it through the usual test and found that the shutter curtain has some wrinkles in it. see the pict below. I ran a est roll and it came out fine, but i did shoot the whole roll very fast, in like 5 min so there was no film sitting in the camera for an extended period. I was wondering if I should return it or not? will it be ok, maybe stretch out after a while of use?

This is the second curtain that has the issue, the one that is viewable when the shutter is cocked. the other curtain, which you see when you open the back of the camera is fine.

thanks

john

The first question I would raise is "why has that curtain got wrinkled?".

i asked that. no reply from the seller, just do you want to return it. thats what i hate about ebay. people unload things they know are defective and the buyer beware.

I think I would return it for a refund. There will be another come along without the problem. Not sure I would ever fully trust it for a back up unless it was fixed.

Good advice. Take it.

That's some pretty profound wrinkling.

This kind of issue should definitely have been mentioned in the ebay listing. Trying to slip something that serious past a unsuspecting consumer is just wrong. I assume that you did your research...feed back, previous sales of camera equipment (not Hummel Figurines), and whether or not the seller accepts returns (that's the big one).

It should definitely go back providing you have that option. After, and only after, you get your refund you might want to post some negative feedback, but that depends on how graciously the return is handled. Maybe, just maybe, he simply missed it...yeah I do tend to be a Pollyanna.

It's a bummer to receive something like that, but there are plenty of nice ones out there, so don't give up on the Pentax 6x7, it's a great camera with an astounding array of lenses available.

Best of luck on the next one,

JD

he has offered to exchange it for another one, so he is now being fair. I hope the other one is OK, but if not he will give me a refund. he said the camera has not been used for quite a while. is this the sort of thing taht happens when a camera goes un-used?
