Wrench for retaining ring?

I have a Beseler lens board with a lens attached with a retaining ring (jam nut). What tool should I use to unscrew the retaining ring with? I found a Rodenstock lens wrench on B&H, will it work?

It is called a spanner wrench. My friend just used his on the retaining ring of one of our lensboards. It makes it easy, but they are expensive for the simple thing that it is.

Often you can loosen the lens by unscrewing the lens itself.

$20+/- shipped for one on ebay. The right tool for the job, as they say. This was the first thing I bought after getting a Beseler enlarger. $$$ for the enlarger. $$$ for good lenses. Buy the right tool!

Do get one by SK Grimes, it's a great investment. Got one last year, well made and beautifull object on it's own. Only bought the flat spanner but would recomend getting the " pointy end " one also. And if you play auto mechanic sometime it also come in handy.

I am a retailer - I sell the "cheap ones" - DON'T BUY THE CHEAP ONE - The one I carry is a generic black one , it retails for $19.95 - I've used it - I usually wish that I had just did the ol' tap a screwdriver (not very kosher, but, often gets the job done) trick. I only have it in-stock for the 4x a year when someone insists they need one... now that I know Grimes has one, I think I'll see what I can do about carrying a quality product

The best one I have came from an ol' pro's darkroom (not everything I buy gets parted/sold... I usually 1st upgrade my own/store stuff) and was made back in the day.

If you are ion a hurry, two nails through a board work. Drive them through just enough so the board clears the lens.
