Check out this site for histories and images of all kinds of late 19th and early 20th century "strut" cameras. Some very cool and clever designs for the times.
The Shew Eclipse is simply beautiful. For ugliest of the bunch is the Pocket Cyko No.1. But how cool would it be to tell folks you own a Pocket Cyko?
Also don't tell the wife or girlfriend you have acquired a Tropical Klapp.
Check out the whole site. Besides struts there is a cornucopia of folders, boxes, tailboards minatures, etc. A huge resource of vintage cameras of all types. What a collection!
Jim,
Thank you very much for the link. I have a Shew 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 camera with a Dallmeyer No.2 Astigmatic series II lens in a Bausch & Lomb pneumatic shutter. I have used it a couple of times. The camera design is similar to some of the examples shown.
I put this link in my camera history folder, these are neat looking cameras, I've not seen anything like them. It seems that any item with the word "Tropical" in the title is $$$$$$$$$$. The next camera I make will be called "Tropical .............. .............".
