Would you buy an F6 if...

I have never had the F5 or F6 but of all the cameras I have ever owned the F4 I should have never sold. Sold it to get into medium format, after 3 months give the med to my daughter. I have used D90's and now have 2 D-80's which I do like. Would gladly pay shipping on the F4:^)

I'd get an F5, and I do intend to. The F6 is too much money and the F5 is also a bit heavier duty with its body/weather sealing etc so I believe.

I'd like an F4 but I wouldn't get one now even though their quite cheap, for one reason being its not going to give me anything that my F90x doesn't and the F100/F5/F6 all will work with nikons new idea of a breed of 'G' lenses (with no aperture ring)... where an F4 or my F90x won't work seamlessly. Or you could just buy the current lenses with the aperture ring, or 2nd hand ones if you just have to have something a bit older.

Don't want an F5, it's too big. The best thing about the F4/F6/F100 is you can tailor the size by removing the vertical grip. Fixed vertical grip is a total deal breaker for me, as when I fly I can reduce kit size and weight (and cabin bag weight) by stripping off the vertical grip. I'm quite happy for a VG to go in checked baggage.

I almost bought an F6 once.

Decided to get a 645AFD instead. Sure the handling isn't as good, but IQ is much better. And that was the clincher, I just could not justify spending that kind of money on a tool that largely had the same handling and identical IQ as my $75 F100.

I have both an F6 and an F100. Really, the F100 does just about everything the F6 does for a fraction of the price. Recently I have been tempted to sell my F6 and keep the F100 but I just can't bring myself to do it. The F6 does take everything I like about the F100 and make it just a bit better. And the data imprinting is a nice bonus.

May be and F6 but if you want to sell something, sell the F100. You don't need any more camera but getting the F6 is only to further complete your collection that's all. I don't think any of us frequent this forum would need another camera. I think we need to get film supply more.

I have an F6 and I still went and bought an fm3a, why? Because sometimes there is something more fun shooting with something simpler though if I need something that acts like a pro slr, then it's the f6 it is...

I did, I had and I kept Having started my Nikon ownership with the F100, I then fell in love with the "tank", the F4s. I then bought the F6 soon after its release. I still have, and use, all three. They all have their pros and cons, but the F6 is the best at everything, for ME anyway.

The one thing that will remain though, is the fact that the F6 is likely to be the last EVER pro film 35mm slr. If you can afford it, buy it, you will not regret it. If you don't, just think what you'll feel like way into the future, after all, just look what the cost of the Nikon SP rangefinder goes for now !

x years ago, I bought my D200 at about 1800. No complaints, I just don't use it much. I do not see any features in the new gear (I really do not want to shoot movies folks), so I have no need to upgrade it.

I have a F100 and like it. I found an F6 that was only about 1300. Why wouldn't I spend less money on the best film camera Nikon ever made (while I can). That is, on a camera I would actually use! It puzzles me that people can rationalize spending 3k or more on a digital but get upset when they have to spend 2-300 on a film camera. I think my purchase is a good one and I will see you "remembering when" in 10 years while I am still shooting with my F6.

I have 600ft of PX, 300 ft of foma 100, 100 ft of tx, 400ft of Neopan 400, 50 rolls of Acros 100 (120), 25 rolls of Reala (120), 5 rolls of Provia 100 (120) and 50ft of R3 in my fridge. I am contemplating getting a couple of 400ft of ORWO N75.... They can stop making film tomorrow. I will be fine.

This is very true. I invested in a new cam in 2007 and never bought a single film camera after it. I have send about 200 rolls through it till now. Pretty much learned how to make a photograph with this camera. But I owned a D40, sold it and bought a D90. Then sold it and bought a used D3 from a NG photographer friend when he was buying a D3S.. I spend 1500k for the D3. But has about a 1000 loss on the buy/sell of D40 and D90. This digital stuff gets outdated every few years. I likely will never get one again since I am not a pro. But it will be worthless 20 years from now. But I can see that even if the film is gone, F6, will be a collectors gem even after that.

Lens compatibility, Metering, Mechanical Reliability and Ergonomics. Which camera has all these in finesse than F6? The only drawback is the CR 123 battery. Nothing is perfect.

For $13 I orderd 4xCR123 bats and a charger. I did the same thing 2 years ago for some CR2 bats, and they have proven reliable.
