Are you ready for this year's edition (April 28th)?

I took several photos last year at Koya-san but did not have a chance to upload them to the WPPD site in time. I'm currently finalising my trip to the UK in a couple of weeks and realised that I will be in Glasgow on the day. I wasn't planning on taking my pinhole camera with me, but now I definitely will - I have a new 6x6F from RSS that is small and light enough to bring with me so hopefully I'll have some nice weather on the day.

What are your plans for this year's WPPD?

Plans? Ready? Hey, I'm retired ...

This is an alarmingly busy month, but I expect to be home on that day and will probably drag out my home brew 8x10 and throw some photons at Fuji HR-T x-ray film. No specific subject currently in mind and how far I will go will be weather dependent.

Anyway, it's been on my calendar since last year's! (But remembering to look at the calendar .... )

Thanks for the heads up, wow it sure snuck up quick this year. Did an event with Art Intersection last year which was a lot of fun. Went to up load the image and missed the dead line by an hour. Will definitely shoot again this year and will really try and get an image scanned and uploaded before the deadline. I'll probably use my 810 Titan again, as the big negatives are addictive. The other contender is my homemade 5.5”x14” bamboo panoramic pinhole camera. Maybe shoot a few different cameras and choose the best image.

I'm ready, and will likely be using some of the film cannister pinhole cameras I've made the past few months. As well as the converted Voigtlander 6x9 folder I hacked to a pinhole last year.
My husband will be using the pinhole lensboard I made for him three years ago, for his 4x5.
Where we go, what we photograph, will depend on the weather - as always.

From the film cannister pinholes:

Thanks for the heads up.

It always seems to creep up on me and disappear just as quickly, but I'll put it in my diary and hopefully I'll be able to upload something this year.

It is that time when the rubber meets the road. I have been tinkering with my 4x5 view camera, now it it time to make it happen.

Sound like a fun project for everyone.

Vaughn, you ought to put a pinhole on your 11x14 and make a few exposures. Roger

The thought crossed my mind -- in some of the more highly visited areas perhaps.

Are you ready for this year's edition (April 28th)?...

Wow, that year sure went by fast! No plans, but I'll start thinking about it. In the best years, WPPD is a whole day put aside for nothing but pinhole photography... it's pretty nice to wake up that morning and think "a whole day of nothing but fun w/ pinhole!". If I can do that, I'll pick some nearby place(s) to go ( beach, redwoods, park, etc ). If it can't be the whole day, I'll still find a few hours and pick one place to go.

Now that I think about it, I DO have a "new" camera. I replaced the pinhole on my "pinhole macro" camera. The new pinhole is somewhere between 0.11 and 0.12 mm and I haven't tried it yet. There are millions of "tiny subjects" just in my house or yard...

Just finished a pinhole conversion of an old non-functioning Agfa Clack (6x9 with curved film plane). 67-68mm focal length, fitted with a 0.34mm pinhole. Will be loading up some Acros and shooting a couple rolls on WPPD. Hopefully something worthwhile develops.

I have one of those cheap kits you can buy, and it works adequately....I'll be in Wales on 28th so will take the pinhole camera with me and shoot a roll of film....

I might have to go out tomorrow and do a test run with my (newish) pinhole camera - I loaded some infrared film in there a while back but then got stuck with not having bright enough days to make the exposures somewhat manageable. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow so it's my best chance to try it out and change the film for WPPD. Hopefully the film isn't too fogged for not having been frozen/refrigerated for months. ;-)

The site for this event is kind of crappy. No feedback if image was published or not. No way to find it.
I'll take picture if I could. Will use Flickr to publish.

The site for this event is kind of crappy. No feedback if image was published or not. No way to find it.

When you submit your photo, you should get an email confirmation almost immediately. The coordinating team reviews every image and we’re also out taking pinhole photographs too. We try to be timely, but we’re all concentrated in about 100 degrees of longitude, so sometimes it make take a few hours before a picture gets in the gallery especially in the first day.

At the top left of every gallery page is an icon that, when clicked, reveals a side panel where you can filter by location, group, or general search.

The web site is a little archaic looking, but the functionality seems intact. There’s a lot more than just the gallery behind it.

We’re looking forward to seeing what you all fill it with this year.

The picture has to be taken on Pinhole Day (in your time zone), but you have until midnight GMT on May 31 to process it and get it submitted.

Nick, thank you for replying, and thank you and all the volunteers world wide who co-ordinate and make this wonderful event happen, year after year.

This is a screen grab from the FB page, which explains a lot about what goes on behind the scenes.

This will be the 5th year for me to participate, first two years on my own, third year, I got my husband involved, fourth year, I got four or five members of our photo club interested and involved. This year there will be a few more of them taking part, I hope!

The fact that the web site has so many language options is incredible, and that made it easy for me to point our friends to the French version.

And personally, the notification of my photos being posted has always been quite fast.

So thanks again!

I'll get the Lerouge 612 out for a bit - it has in fact been my most used camera this past year.

The weathers not looking good here in the UK, so can only hope it will be better tomorrow.

At the moment it's really dark skies but more importantly, EXTREMELY windy. I think it may be the tail end of a storm which has blown over this way.

Even my heaviest tripod would probably blow over. It may turn into a still life pinhole day for me.
