I would love to see a documentary program about the legendary Martin Forscher, Professional Camera Repair, in NYC, and the many custom modifications, etc. performed for client professional photographers. He holds a number of patents on photographic inventions.
"He got his start as a camera technician working with one of the greats of photography -- Edward Steichen -- in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
"I was hired because the man recruiting for Steichen thought I knew a lot about cameras," he said. "The fact is, I didn't know anything. They sent me up to New York to buy tools. I got back and locked myself up in a room. I got a brand-new Rolleiflex off the shelf and stripped it down completely, took every screw out of it. I put it in a box, shook it up and spent three weeks putting it back together."
