Wollensak raptar f4.7 135mm on rapax shutter filter size?

Hello lf lovers,
I just bought à busch pressant 4x5 and it comes with a Wollensak raptar f4.7 135mm on rapax shutter,
I was wondering if some one knows the diameter of the filters I need to get?
I was told to look for series VI filters, but I don't know if I need screw-on or push-on type, plus the filter adapters I found on the bay come in different diameters.

I would be greatful if someone could help me out with more info!

Btw I haven't received the camera yet, so I can't measure myself.

I use S VI push on. The adaptor I have allows for a filter and a lens hood.

Hello;
Series VI filters will work but you need a 38mm push on adapter. These old lenses did not have filter threads machined on them. Good luck on trying to find one, Steven.

If you have difficulty finding an adapter, there is a simple, crude alternative. You can measure the outside diameter of the front lens cell, then buy filters with about the same outside diameter, which will be a bit larger than the thread size. Then you can secure the filter to the front cell with tape. I use 1/2" (13mm) wide black masking tape from Freestyle and give it one complete wrap around the circumference of the lens. Not very elegant, but it works well. This is how I mount filters to all my LF lenses. They're all old and none of them have filter threads.

They're somewhat rare today, but I recently had and sold a nice clamp-on Wollensak lens shade specifically made for the 135mm f/4.7 that included a Series VI filter adapter (which also provided an easier to read aperture scale).

Too bad the OP is in France but the US big auction side has them pop up.

Try the french version of ePay. I recently came across a seller in the US thta had a vide selection of the series 6 slip on adapters.
The filters are widely available cheap also.

yes i am in France, and cant find any series 6 filters here, so i guess i will go with desertrat's suggestion, and tape the filters in front of the lens.

You can get a stepping ring close to the size of the lens surround from SRB Griturn (google) then attach a cokin or similar filter carrier to that. The whole is 'secured' to the lens with a bit of blue tack. Voila, as they say. No tape. The man at SRB seemed to think it wouldn't be too difficult to produce push on adaptors. Maybe if enough of us ask him...

Have you tried getting a Series IV, Series V, Series VI, or Series VII step up filter adapter in the last ten years?? A step up adapter that most places have thread which will not work on the OP's lens. There is a BIG difference between "just getting a step up filter adapter" and getting a Series VI slip-on filter adapter for older lenses.

Yes I have this lens and use it on a Speedgraphic. That's why I offered advice. And you? I use the blue tack approach, but the guy who runs SRB - who is a long time UK specialist maker of adapters for lenses in both stills photography and motion pictures - assured me he could make an adapter if I wanted one. I take his word for it. The original poster is in France, which means there are no import problems from the UK and clearly speaks English and can ask SRB for himself. That's why I gave him the google look-up.
