My searches for this type indicate that it's mostly known as an enlarger lens, although there were some (purportedly optically identical) versions supplied for primary photography. No. 813798 in a Rapax shutter offered on a 2x3 press camera. I like this angle of view on 6x9 but is the much more common Luminized Ektar 101/4.5 a better choice for color landscape photography and night photography with point light sources?
One key factor in this is, of course, coating. Were mid-20th century enlarging lenses generally provided with anti-reflective coating? Were other Wollensak camera lenses from the late-40's/early-50's coated?
I don't have the lens in front of me to check. I'm sure I could take a look next time but I'm also just generally curious about this lens' reputation, beyond the mere presence or absence of coating.
