I have a older timber Wista Field which the back appears to be 3mm out of square with the base. The top is leaning forward. Has anybody got a way of squaring the back up. This Wista has the metal slides for side shift and rear swing. The most likely way looks like removing the fours screws on the side mounts and pluging the hole with toothpicks and re-screwing in the square position.

Regards
Shane

Compare each metal part carefully between the two cameras. None of us, present owners or previous, has ever bumped or dropped a view camera, but.... In my experience with one camera, the rear standard got a little out of square with the base. Not exactly your problem, but the solution may be similar. The hinges connecting rear and base were ever so slightly bent. This can be fixed easily if exact copy new hinges are available. It takes a little work straightening and aligning if they are not. As you suggest, your problem sounds more like side hardware than the hinges, but the repair may be the same sort of hardware straightening.

Hey Shane, I think you should sell it and get an 8x10 Tachi. It'd do your back the world of good on a long hike.
LOL
