Wiring SafeLight into Ilford Multigrade Power supply

Can anyone advise if the socket at the front of the Multigrade power supply is commonly available or is a special order?

The plugs have unfortunately been discontinued by the manufacturer, Bulgin. This may well be the result of the RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances) legislation which has affected much electrical and electronic equipment and was the reason cited by Hasselblad for discontinuing the Xpan. I have tried to get hold of some but none of our suppliers have any stock left.

The socket is a similar size and shape to the current standard CEE22 connectors we use on our timers so it may well be possible to replace the socket on the Ilford power supply with one of those. FYI, the Bulgin part number is PX0770, www.bulgin.co.uk. You may be able to find an electrical parts supplier that still has one left. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Richard. I'm a little unsure that I explained what I'm trying to do.

If you look at this diagram, I'm trying to wire a safelight into the power supply in the socket indicated on the diagram. I need some type of plug for this socket and trying to source it.

Yes - that's exactly the socket / plug I meant that's obsolete. As I suggested, maybe you can replace the socket with a CEE22 type for which plugs are easily available.

This would shock (so to speak) any tradesmanlike sparky, but I found a plug which fitted, and was probably designed for a computer, in an electronic store. It had one problem: a collar which prevented it fitting the socket. I carefully sawed the collar off and it works like a charm. I'm quite sure that it is safe, but disclaim any mishap from this suggestion.
