Wiring layout required. Devere to timer.

I have a Hauck timer that I want to connect to a DeVere 504. The transtab connector is a Bulgin rectangular plug with a round connector. I connected the earth, pin 4 to live, 3 to neutral and pins 7 and 8 are bridged.
If I operate the timer without switching on the transtab then the light operates, but the fan is obviously not on. If I then switch the transtab on the lamp is permanently on even when the timer is not counting down. Does anyone have a standard electronic timer connected to a 504 and if so do you have the pin connections?

I noticed that RH Designs has a special cord assembly for the Devere Transtab to their timer. I am not familiar with either your enlarger or your timer.

The RH Designs uses the Transtab power output to the timer and does not use the building supply as it's source from what I understand.

I have worked with electrical control circuits for the past thirty years. I would imagine that there is a power output from the Transtab unit that is common to the switch that controls safelight output and the timer output and the enlarger output is internally switched by a timer controlled relay. At least that is the way that I would design something like this.

From the Info we have on the DeVere Transtab, connections to a Hauck TU5 timer are as follows -

Power supply to timer: line to pin 3, neutral to pin 6, ground to pin 1
Timer output (rh pin of outlet socket) to pin 4. Other pins of timer outlet socket not to be connected.
Bridge pins 7 and 8 (as you have done)

For some reason I can't fathom, line and neutral connections to the Transtab for the Hauck timer are the opposite of all others (including ours).

Thanks Richard. I noticed on the original wiring that pin 6 was connected so this is the power for the timer.

Sorry for bringing this old thread to top. Since last weekend I am a happy owner of a 507 Dichromat mkII, equipped with the Transtab power supply and an external digital timer (non-DeVere). The timer is connected to the Transtab via the Bulgin-plug.
Do I understand your explanation right that the Transtab delivers 240V to the socket for a timer (via Pins 3,6,1) and the lamp can be switched via pin 4? Are there any commercial adaptors for connecting for example a Hauck MSAII?

Hi Michael

Yes, your interpretation is correct as far as I'm aware. I don't know of any commercially available adaptors; however we can supply the 8-way plug if you want to wire up your own.
