Wiring for a Beseler 45MX

Another fun question for all of you...

I am trying to rewire my Beseler lamphouse. Does anyone know what gauge wire I need. I bought some but it seems too thin. I don't want to start a fire.

Condenser? Any lamp cord will work. 16 or 18 gauge would be more than enough. The draw at 120 volts is less than 2 amps with the 150 watt bulb, just over 2 amps with the 250.

What was the reason for the re-wiring? Has that "problem" been rectified?

A couple important things to consider. Remember that the older motor chassis' the two prong outlet on the front of the motor control is for a switch to turn the lamp on and off. If your enlarger is mid 70's or older you need to short that outlet to get the lamp to light.
Don't electrocute yourself!

The enlarger main cord should be a nice 16 or 14 awg round rubber cord, black and white stranded wire, with a green stranded ground. The condenser lamp house should be black two strand 16 awg lamp cord, if the enlarger has polarized outlet for the lamp house plug you need to pay attention to correct polarization, the wider spade on the plug gets, in the case of lamp cord the wire that has a very slight ribbing on the insulation.

Don't electrocute yourself

The whole thing should be run off a grounded (earthed) GFCI circuit.

Lamps and drop cords (I can't remember what a drop cord is called in the UK?) are what start fires
