Pentax generously provided the 645 with both a conventional mechanical cable release, and a jack for electronic cable release. I have been using the latter with a 6 foot cable with no problems - seems to make sense with an electronic shutter. Does anyone have experience with using a wireless remote shutter release on this camera? Does such a thing exist? (Seems like it oughta...) Any information would be appreciated.
If Pentax didn't make one, it's really only a switch so there's no reason you couldn't jerry rig something. Simple RC set from an inexpensive RC car or airplane from Target or Wally world should give you the guts.
What about this - http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/product.php?productid=16697
They only list compatibility with dslrs, but I'd think the later film slrs and the 645N would work the same.
If you get it and it works, let us know (I have a PZ-1p and a 645N).
The Yongnuo RF 602 wireless flash trigger/wireless cable release set that I bought for my Nikons works with my 645N; even the half-depress wake-up after the camera goes to sleep. Of course you'll need to splice an Pentax F-type release cable.
I also use YongNuos with my Hasselblad EL(...)s.
Cheap little thingies, that are rather cheap (or had i said that already? )
Even if you spend a couple of bucks to put on the plug you need for your camera.
I like the way they can go into "T" mode. Quite useful with Hasselblads.
Hey all! I know this thread is super old. Can you explain to me what .you mean by "splice an Pentax F-type release cable." Trying to wirelessly shutter release my Pentax 645n

Nikon , canon , Pentax etc use different sockets on their cameras for wired releases .
So getting a cable release , cutting the plug off , and using it to convert a wireless receiver to Pentax is necessary .
That's assuming you can't just buy a wireless release that fits Pentax , of the same type of plug/socket .
