What are the Point of Interests in Skagway (and/or Valdez) Alaska during Winter?
How do one gets around in, I would assume, thick and icy roads?

Much of the inner channel of Alaska is not accessible by road. One must come by ship or airplane. Check by internet for each place you are interested in.

Curious. Why are you going in winter?

I am thinking small plane. Will it be risky weatherwise?
Hard to predict months in advance, but the sooner you make inquires you better understanding you will get.
I am thinking that's the best season to taste Alaska winter and less crowded.

Any time schools are in session. Avoid the crowds. We travel on shoulder travel dates. Spring would be wonderful.

FWIW, I think that if you want to "taste" Alaska winter, you probably need to go there in the winter. :whistling:

that's how smart I am 🤓

It occurs to me, that sometimes this might not appear to be as obvious as it appears.

I live in or near a bunch of communities where lots of Hallmark movies get filmed.

No matter what time of year it is, you are never entirely sure that you won't turn a corner and find a few snowmen, some fake snow, a horse drawn sleigh and traffic disruption!

I've actually never been to AK (formally) but I've been to BC around same longitude in end of Summer. There was no snow but tons of YUUUGE mosquitos. I assume they fly into Alaska as well.
And I was just randomly thinking about winter in Alaska ❄️❄️

We have had them for many years in our community as well - although that actually makes more sense because we have a more temperate micro-climate than Vancouver, even though a drive to the edge of Vancouver is just a few minutes - traffic permitting.

First snow today in Iowa City. I ventured out mid day. Saw the wrecked cars along the interstate, thank goodness for airbags. Maybe 1 inch. Nuts!
