Windows based development timer?

I'm on the road for a few weeks and to pass the time I want to develop some film. I packed a changing bag, Paterson tank, and some chemicals; but no timer (Gralab is just too big).

Are there any good timer programs for this out there? Google search didn't yield much except multiple downloads for the "Pachyderm" timer shareware which appears to be a computer interfaced enlarger timer more than a film timer.

I could use my cellphone countdown timer but that's kind of a pain to reset every step, especially with chemicals all over my gloves.

stopwatch for me, or my wristwatch, just start the time when you finish your pour for the developer.

i just let the time run, and keep track of the times for things (fix=6-8 mins , depending on film), hypo, wash, etc.

simple enuf for my simple brain. i personally think that if you're worried about getting chemicals on your wristwatch, then getting them on your laptop would be worse ?

Have to agree I've been using Claudio's software for over 2 years now, it's great as I can save parameters for different processes etc.

There is an easy way to use the stop watch on your cell phone without getting chems on it. Simply put it in a zip lock bag. Once you are done, take it out and bin the bag. Thats all I ever do when developing film.

I did the same as hoffy with my previous phone. However, with my current phone, the screensaver (which cannot be turned off) hits in after 45 seconds so I have to keep pressing buttons to prevent blacking out of the screen. This annoyed me so much, I downloaded the pc-stopwatch-version.

Radio Shack has small digital count down timers that will fit in your pocket. They are also good for long exposures since the have an audio alert when the time is up.

Another vote here - I use it all the time for both dry and wet-side timing using my laptop with a red filter over the screen.

It can run 3 different timings simultaneously - so I set it for the End of Dev/End of the Stop/End of Fixing

I had this one for a few years until I dropped it and it broke. It was also handy for timing exposure when running several albumen prints at once.

That said, I found the controls on this to be rather awkward, with the one sliding switch to go between the three timers and different views and then to reset one or all three. Some kind of all-pushbutton design would have been more practical, where each button has basically one function.
