BBC 4 has been spoiling us in the last few months with films on photographers and a new one on William Eggleston was brought to my attention today.

I have to agree with you Mike, we have seen some fantastic documentaries of late. This one, IMO, was well worth my licence fee alone, the BBC at their best. What this one in particular done for me was to open my eyes to what Eggleston describes as 'Art Photography', a side of photography that I have been very dismissive of in past conversations. Listening to Eggleston talk about his work helped me to understand his thought process behind each photograph, and the reasoning as to why he chose to press the shutter. For me though, his early Black and White work was far superior to his colour work, but then my opinion is rather biased as it is a medium that I prefer.

Perhaps I will now see the work of Martin Parr in a different light!
