William Eggleston III is dapper like his dad.

Also, Steidl upgraded their copy stand to a Phase 1, and it looks like it's working marvelously.

Enjoy.

These box sets from Steidl look great but they have become very expensive. ' The Outlands' is $450. Mary Ellen Mark's 'The Book of Everything' is over $500. I'm an avid photo book collector but I find it hard to justify spending that much on a single 3-volume set of books like this.

Olive-grey pants and a white shirt are now considered dapper? Granted, his socks seem to match. By comparison, I did an Google image search and the first photo of his father I came across shows him wearing dark blue pants, a white shirt, and what appears to be a blue and white ascot worn outside his shirt. Now that's dapper.

Well, I did watch the video. I guess it was interesting to learn that William Eggleston use to pick his son up at school and then go driving around looking for stuff to shoot. You always wonder how people go about doing things. I would like to look at these latest books. Maybe I can get the local library to buy a set.

I was surprised at that comment from William about riding around Memphis with his dad. It's hard for me to imagine Eggleston as a father figure, but he was one after all, and brought his boy along for his work. Which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Steidl has videos with other photographers too, so I'm looking forward to watching a few of them. I didn't know he was producing them but I'm glad that he is. It makes good sense to create a little video like this, since he has the access; I remember reading that he requires the artist to be present during setup for the production run, so with a few minutes he can capture some thoughts with a camera running and do a little marketing for the artist.

It's too bad Eggleston the photographer couldn't be interviewed, but he's so inscrutable anyway that maybe not much would have been gained. William III seems to be organized and taking this work seriously, and professionally.

If anyone is interested, you can find flip-throughs of all three volumes here:

If you've got the scratch, buy two but leave one wrapped. Then in a few months you could sell the unopened one and you would probably end up with a free book.

I do like Soth quite a bit, and it's a shame he hasn't made one of his great videos in months. I hope he can find the time soon.

I've never been a big fan of his work, but I was enjoying his YouTube videos and was wondering why he suddenly stopped producing them.

My guess is it was a pandemic thing and he may just be busy again.

Most likely.

One of his videos turned me on to Josef Sudek's 'The Window of My Studio' which has become a favorite book of mine. Hopefully we'll see more from Soth soon.

I bought the Lora Webb Nichols book a third of the way through the video. I'm hopeless. :D

William Eggleston in recent years released a music album called "Musik". It seems to get mixed reviews.

If I recall correctly, the documentary "William Eggleston in the Real World" has footage of him out shooting with a Mamiya press camera accompanied by a grown-up member of his family, maybe his son?
