I've been told that the minolta x700 I have no longer works, and I just found a 500si Super for a good price, so I was wondering if the lenses I have for the x700 would work for that camera also? And if not, are there any other cameras that would work with those lenses?
No, different mounts.
The X700 is a MD camera, the Dynax 500si Super is an Alpha mount camera.
Do some research about the MD mount.
You can start by the Rokkor files.
Have a good study.

There are plenty of beautiful used bodies for your MD lenses available for little money, e.g. X-700, X-500, X-300, XD's, SRTs (many different) etc. You have to look for MD / MC compatibility. The X-700 was the last body made by Minolta for the MD/MC series. After that they changed the mount.
The problem here is if the electrolytic capacitor(s) are the problem it has likely been leaking for some time now and damaged the circuit board so I would check both boards before investing any money trying to repair it.. If the camera already has tantalum capacitors (2 each) then the problem is likely elsewhere.
I have heard about many people making this repair and have done it myself. I have never heard about or seen board damage. Besides capacitors are very cheap, and if you can solder it's an easy fix.

Just to be precise, Minolta x700 has the SR mount, the lenses to fit this mount are MD/MC Rokkor lenses. The 500si along with the other Minolta AF cameras is an Minolta A-mount camera. They were only called Alpha, wenn Sony took over.
Yeap.
The Minolta Alpha SLR cameras AFAIK were sold in Asia only. They were pretty much the same as the equivalent Dynax and Maxxum cameras sold elsewhere.
Sony just picked up the name already in use in Asia.
