Since Kodak's Portra films have been improved with the new technology of double dye sensitization, will Kodak use the new tech on improving their UC films as well? This would further reduce grain size and make them the leaders in fine grain. As it stands now 400NC has the same grain size as 400UC, but 400NC is new tech while 400UC is old tech. I did talk to a Kodak rep and he did say it is very possible Kodak is working on this very thing for the UC films. Anyone heard anything in regards to this? Ron- can you comment?

Scott;

Kodak is indeed working on a host of new products. My information only tells me that. Not what they are or when they will come out. One thing that is being done, is work on keeping. The current new Portra is one of the most stable films out there, and so I assume that is one of the things they are improving for other product lines. That takes time to test.

I thought the 400UC was discontinued?

Since when? Its still current as far as I know. Maybe L&S decided to stop carrying it? It used to be called Portra 400UC and its now just 400UC or Ultra Color 400. Its probably Kodaks best 400 speed film, so there is no way they'd kill it off.
