Will Digitally-Optimized Lenses work as well on Film as Trad. Analog Lenses?

Is that the 50mm G lens? How are you using a lens without an aperture ring on the F3 and FM?
I hope you are talking about the 50mm D version!
 
I make 6" X 9' prints using a Leitz 1c, w/AN glass, & Leitz Focotar-2.
