Does anyone know if I can use the SMC Pentax-D FA 645 55mm F2.8 AL on my Pentax 645NII film body? It looks like the DFA 55mm F2.8 AL lens doesn't have an aperture ring as it was made for digital Pentax 645 bodies.

If I somehow can use this lens on my 645NII, would it be safe to assume that I can only use it with Shutter Priority? Also, to anyone who knows, would I be able to use this lens in Bulb mode? (I ask because I shoot a lot of night photography with very long exposures.)

For you experienced Pentax medium format shooters, if the DFA 55mm F2.8 AL lens won't work in Bulb mode for night photography, would it be better to purchase the SMC Pentax-A 645 55mm F2.8 or just adapt my slightly larger SMC Pentax 67 55mm F4 to my 645NII?

If anyone has any experience with the DFA 55mm F2.8 AL with any of the Pentax 645 film bodies, please let me know!

Very much appreciated, as always

Great if you get the answer here but if not, then join the PentaxForum and post the question in the MF section. It's dedicated to Pentax cameras. Many are solely digital users but there are many who owned analogue Pentaxes in days gone by

Maybe you have found this already, but https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-D-FA-645-55mm-F2.8-Lens.html mentions: "The lens has a built-in motor (SDM) for the autofocus function. On a 645 film camera the lens can be used in manual focus mode only, and only in P and Tv exposure modes due to the lack of an aperture ring."

So, no AF and no aperture priority or full manual.

For the 67 lens, you will need (if you don't have it already) the adapter https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/Pentax-67-Adapter-for-645.html , which allows "in full manual and Av exposure modes".

So, if you want all exposure modes, get the A-645. If you like P or Tv, you could use the D-FA-645 without AF. If you like full manual or Av, you could use your 67 lens.

The A-645 would be probably the lightest, but the adapter might be cheaper then the A-645 or D-FA-645.
No AF on any of them.
