Why you think?

Didn't you just post one above?

Koudelka's photos certainly have humanity, but do you really think it's because of the lens designs?

That was only a flukey one.

I prefer my soul on a dinner plate instead of in my film. Gimme some oxtails, greens, candied yams, cornbread and sweet tea!

Thank you for this opening statement of yours, sounds very sound to me.
Except 110 rolls of film sounds expensive!

I got a picture of topless men pulling a giant set of boobs. I think that counts.
This was taken with an M3 and Summicron DR - nothing more soley/souly than that get up!
Plus check out that kid figuring things out....

I have the collapsible version. It's not quite as high resolution as the rigid one you're using, so that's more souley, isn't it?

Next time I see a parade of people dragging giant boobs along the beach I'll take a shot and we can compare.

Oh, you pure precious poet.
You chose to use those hobo cameras and glass when you heard the call of the muse.

Laziest attempt at humble bragging in some time on these pages.

You’re a wonderful photographer, and you are also cultivating a Prima Donna persona… that I have to admit I find amusing.
Perhaps that is the point?

You saw right.

But I needed a cleanse. A nonchalant IId with a elmar provided me with La bohème that I needed. Did I capture the moment? Did I see the light correctly? It didn’t matter, there would be at least something on film, and that would be enough!

Indeed, I should have chosen a Rolleiflex 3.5f over the 2.8E2, but that schneider lens was one that I wished to discover more in depth. I have shot 45 films with it, of essentilly old doors, door knobs, and old wallls. A few rusted cars and other dead lifeless things. With time, and out of spite, I have indeed started to have a passion for shooting sidewalks, cracks in the street and walls. No jokes.

Full plate film and a good soft focus vintage lens ~ soul by brute force.

My wife and I visited a beautiful park on Sunday. I had a nice Leica IIIf 28mm CV lens and my Leica 2.8cm Brightline viewfinder on top, all chrome, had a roll of Kentmere 400 in the camera. The men with plasticy DSLRs looked at that pristine rangefinder the way sailors look pretty girls!

Just to prove my coolness when I processed the film, I didn't have the lid snapped on tight, I got a magnificent artsy light strike across the edge of the entire roll of film!

That's Soul!!!

You can pretend you have soul with your 110 rolls you shot but I get actual soul and the holy ghost by shooting 110 lomo film on my Agfacrapic 2008. Beat that sucka!

You know, I went out and shot much of one roll of TMY2 at and on the Golden Gate Bridge a couple weekends ago with an ESII and SMCT 50mm f/1.4 that I overhauled earlier this summer.

I had in my mind that I would take unusual pictures, close-ups of bolts and cables.

But I forgot my earlier idea that I would have hands in the pictures to give them some humanity.

Dang. I have to go back and do it again.

p.s. I found the absolute best parking spot. Go as if to Crissy Field from 25th and just before you go under 101 there’s a row of 2 hour free parking spots on McDowell. Trail from there gets you right up on the bridge.

p.p.s. I got to experience one of NB23’s photos the other day. Good stuff.

What do I think? I think you are a wonderful photographer. You make negatives and print them and really love what you make. THANK YOU for sharing your fun.

Sorry Mr Mollycoddle, Mr Cynic here. Nothing is as simple as that. But on the other side of that realization there is another rainbow.
