As has been previously pointed out, this isn't nearly as funny as it looks. The kangaroo is in an attack posture, and is getting ready to rest its weight on its tail (yes it can do this), and pummel the abdomen of the person so grappled. Kangaroos have wickedly sharp, long claws on their hind feet, which they can use to disembowel an opponent. If the worst that happened here is that their camera got smashed, the person in the photo should consider him/herself lucky.

your totally right TFC, kangaroos might come across all friendly in zoo's but piss one of them off and watch out.

I dunno, there seems to be a pixelly halo around the camera and strap and the head of the 'roo. Not sure this is authentic.
Maybe it's a digiroo (not to be confused with a didgeridoo)

Think you might have something there Tony.
The arm position in relationship to the camera looks odd.If the 'roo went for the girls head the arms should be more upright.Raised arms would also account for the Hassy's flight.

A Digiroo Tony? Now there's a frightening concept! Must be a fake because any self respecting photog would have clobbered that 'roo with the Hassy. Old Hasselblads and Nikon F's are great blunt force weapons.

Murray, the roo does have it's eyes on the subject. If you have ever seen roos boxing, this is exactly how they do it.

Their head goes right back, balance on the tail and box quite furiously in spurts.

In the fifties there was at least one travelling boxing show in a tent. This troupe of boxers never went too close to the cities as the side bets which were part and parcel of these, were illegal.

The particular boxing side show I remember, is one with a large Eastern Grey male kangaroo as their star boxer. I never saw that roo lose a bout in at least two times and possibly a third time I attended.

Camping in the bush in the sixties we often heard roos boxing in the distance. Usually in the early hours of the morning and the late afternoon. Occasionally we saw them, always exciting, especially if they were mature males, then you got to see some really tough stuff.
