It may be a tactic.. but it's a stupid one.

I, for one, will never buy from somebody so out of touch, conniving, or just plain manipulative to ask half a million dollars for something. It shows bad character on the seller's part and I'll have nothing to do it.

So that tactic just lost him at least 1 potential customer.

(not that I'm in the market for a camera, just talking in general)
