These are ancient. Troy ounce was adopted in England, but there's as many different pounds as there are tribes. Metric system is (after Troy measures) the first real universal weights and measures.

In the US, autos and aircraft are metric seems like everything else is SAE US version of English inches etc. We need metric!

Uhm why would you go to the dealer after the warranty period? Find a decent independent shop!

That would only happen if the left side of the IQ curve moved more to the right. Sadly, not likely to happen.

Could be like my BMW where there is an ignition coil as part of each spark plug cap, and the labor involved is more complex than it used to be. The coils might need to be replaced at the same time, too.

The quality independent shops around here are big enough to be able to afford the $100,000.00 + per year to maintain all the necessary diagnosis equipment (for current cars) and charge similar amounts as the dealers - some savings, but not much.

Most everything has been coil-on-plug for a long time.

Well, I only get a new car every 10-15years, so I'm not up to speed on those things.

I can get a free loaner car from the Acura dealer. I also like Acura parts which in this case i just found out are $40 each or$240 plus labor. With a discount I asked for, they're now at $428. No coils or wires just plugs..

I thought this thread was about paper ratio and not about cars.

From Rock Auto the original plugs are around $6 each. I suppose they need to pay for the free loaner somehow.

If you spend any time on car related sites, you may come away with a less than stellar opinion about products from Rock Auto (and I expect some other sources).
There are probably a number of apparently compatible but still different plugs for an Accura.
EDIT: for clarity, I'm saying that one can find a wide range of quality from sources like this, not that this particular source is any different from others.

What about the alt process stuff like steam? Steam powered cars are really interesting ( I was going to say cool, but steam is actually rather warm)

Well I'll find out Thursday. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Well, at $428, that was 0.35 cents per mile. Not too bad.

I took autoshop in high school (1972) It was the only class I almost failed. But I remember the teacher mentioning that to change the plugs on some Mustang V8s required lifting the engine part way out to reach them. Don't quote me on it...While I tend to retain everything I have learned with a mind like a steel trap, things tend to get a bit mangled. And he drove a Corvette, so he might have been biased.

But it makes me wonder how easy it is to get the plugs into the Accura.

Craig -- Another alternative: I helped a little working on a wood gasifier powered van at a commune in New Zealand back in 1975. And I vaguely remember a movie just post WWII - the hero(s) escaping the Japanese Army in a wood gasifier powered bus -- burning coconut husks or something like that.

I thought this thread was about paper ratio and not about cars.

By page five we were on pints of beer in Paris. The original topic was taken care of by page three.

A few years ago I borrowed one of their loaners, a brand new car. It had 10 miles on it. Then I got into an accident. Oh boy! I decided to skip the loaner this time and just wait. There's a restaurant across the street so I'll have lunch while waiting. I just have to be careful crossing the street.

Acura parts has plugs ranging from $17-$40. I need the $40 version. I priced the parts separately from the dealers part's department based on the car model, a 2012 TL. Why there's such a difference in pricing, I have no idea. I've priced up the work in independent repair shops. But who knows what they'll provide. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/oem-acura-spark_plug.html

I'll do oil changes and tire rotations at Jiffy Lube because they're pretty convenient and nice people.

I very much doubt Acura (Honda) makes spark plugs. Find out what brand and number is used and shop around. Of course, you'll have to replace them yourself or just make sure an independent mechanic is using the same ones. Acura dealers need to amortize the cost of loaner cars, coffee machines and nice waiting rooms--some of that comes from parts sales.
