Why does my GX680 do this? (was: GX680 family - help getting started?)

Thanks to everyone who filled me in on the GX680!

So I got one, it's amazing. All cameras should be GX680s or Olympus XAs.

Anyway.

When I turn the camera off the counter on the film back (120) resets to "1"

Turning it back on advances the film a little, but the camera quickly figures out that it has film in it so it's not like I'm losing frames.

But... is this normal? Can I make it not do that?

The backs of a GX680 have their own battery. Most likely the battery of your back is depleted. When you turn on the camera, the back get its energy from the body. If you have a GX680 III or GX680 IIIs have a look at the new IIIN back. If not, have a look at this video:
