Whose paper has the whitest base?

You could make your own test . Just develop 3 empty papers and compare the result. And let us know.

I don't want to buy all kinds of papers if someone has an answer.

Ilford cooltone is a good candidate. Among the ones I have used: Adox Variotone.

Fiber-base? RC? Graded? VC?

I can only comment on fiber-base papers. Of those being currently manufactured and that I use, Ilford Galerie and MCC110 have a very bright-white paper base. The Foma graded papers are a bit yellower.

Best,

I meant FB ,VC or graded. Thanks for the tip on Foma.

any way to measure so we could post a result for what we have for comparison?

id gladly send you a sample of whatever i have. pm your address?

I just printed with Adox MCC, Ilford Galerie and Fomabrom graded and I actually put the white margins of the prints right next to each other. All prints were glossy and my developer was Ansco 130 with benzo instead of bromide. MCC was the brightest, then Galerie, then the Foma. Differences are subtle and require bright, even light to notice them.

Thank you, Jarin. That's what the previous posts seem to say. And you DO need a bright, even light for looking at prints (or slides, negs).
