My fellow apuggers,
A while back I saw a couple of photographs at the Art Institute in Chicago that I thought were wonderful but I can't remember the photographer's name. They were female figures, very high key to the point that the only real detail was the thinnest of shadows that outlined her body making them kind of abstract. I believe they were both from the back, one being hips and legs, the other a torso (I think). I'm sure somebody knows who this is despite my vague description.

Thanks!
Jonathan

Sounds like the Paolo Roversi 'Nudi' project, although they were all full length front on.

I think it sounds more like Harry Callahan to me.

Yes Richard, it's very much like the example you
have posted. It could very well be Callahan, but
I've yet to find the print I'm thinking of. "Dirty" Harry
Callahan isn't making the search any easier!

Thanks,
Jonathan

The one on the LACMA site was more of what I had in mind when I thought of Harry Callahan, but I couldn't find a copy of anything else on the internet.

I also thought it could have been an Irving Penn nude that was being described, but the connection between the Art Institute and Callahan was too strong.

Another photographer who does somewhat similar nudes (and who also teaches at RISD) is Dead Link Removed. And, I have to add, I think he is a brave man to approach the subject as he has.
