After purchasing three modern(ish) Whole Plate Film holders from @jimgalli, I have been measuring them with the idea of trying to identify other holders in the future that will fit my Gunlach Korona camera.

I have enough for now, but from what I understand is that WP holders were never standardized and, like 9x12 cm film holders, can be a nightmare to identify and source.

I don't know of any central repository of information for film plate/film holders for this format, but there should at least be a rudimentary list of known compatible types.

Can other WP camera users chime in and tell me if their camera is compatible with these holders that are stamped, "6 1/2 x 8 1/2 Eastman Film #1 U.S. Patent 1641480 2056144" and "Made in USA by Folmer Graflex Corp. For Eastman Kodak Company"?

It would be nice at least to build a list of compatible cameras, if nothing else.

BTW: the patents cited on the holders are on Google Patents -- 1641420 and 2056144.

I have several WP wooden holders labelled "RITTRECK Hope". They have the same dimensions in the important dimensions, i.e. width and depth to film surface. The latter is a bit difficult to measure as the plate is on springs, but with a film loaded, it seems to be 6.5mm. Bottom to rib is 235mm, slightly more than yours, you would have to check if the back can accomodate these additionnal 3mm. I checked side thickness, I also had a 0.3mm difference, but I don't think this is relevant as long as the film is at the right distance.
Cheers
