A few years ago ( maybe 10 IDK I don't have a handle on time ) there was a Photographer who hadn't left her house in a long time. I don't remember if she had Agorophobia or another illness that prevented her from leaving her home but she spent her days indoors and photographing her local environment. There was a write up about here ( probably a link here on this site is how I learned about her ) and a short film in the article.

Does anyone know who it is I am talking about and if so, can you please link to her website? I would love to see her work again, new and old.

Thanks
John

 Thanks Alex
no the person I am thinking about was not a member here / poster but someone here posted a link or referenced this person in a post about a photographer whose work to notice because it was amazing and heartbreaking and eye opening. the article was in one of the well known (at the time?) photography magazines like lens scratch or something like that. the article was a dense 5-10 minute read and the video must have been 10-15 minutes long where she talked and showed her home and her photography.

Are you thinking about the young woman who mostly shot photos with her in the photos, and who passed away?

maybe ... I didn't remember she passed away ( if it is the same person I am thinking of )...

Francesca Woodman is the photographer I was thinking of - deceased at 22.

YES! that's her, thanks Matt.
I've got to find the video and website now ..
so young, and very sad.

The exhbition Francesca Woodman »On Being an Angel« has been touring in Europe - unfortunately I couldn't see this because of COVID. I bought the book and can really recommend.

There's also a documentary, "The Woodmans" that is quite interesting.
I don't recall hearing that she didn't leave her house for a long stretch. She was a college student (perhaps still so when she committed suicide).

I have one of her books (fantastic!) and show her work often in my classes. I often wonder what her work would be like now if she were still alive.
