who makes Adorama paper?

Think of a building. That is the Ilford factory in Mobberley, UK.
It is owned by a company called Harman Technology Ltd.
Now, inside they make some products that have Harman, some have Ilford and some have Kentmere labels.
But, only one product can have one name.
So, some papers are labelled Harman, photographic paper is often labelled Ilford and some film is labelled Kentmere.
None is identical to the other.
So the Kentmere film has nothing to do with the Ilford films nor with the Harman Direct Positive paper.

I understand that we have failure to commutate. My point is that Harmont has in past stated that Ilford products are not sold for 3rd party resale. Ilford branded paper had been different from other bands produced by Harmont, and like Ilford branded film was not sold as relabeled a brand under Freestyle or Photowearhouse. or Adorama, at least in the U.S. Other brands are or were, as well as customized coating or others. Due to change in ownership this may be or not still be true.

Do you mean Harman Technology Ltd., the manufacturers of Ilford and Kentmere products, or are you referring to some other entity with the name "Harmont"?

Sorry, one of the reasons for poor communication is my bad spelling of names. Harman not Harmont.

There is a company called Harman( a buy-out by management who were previously Ilford managers), after the Ilford collapse in I think 2004. This was simply Ilford as it was before the collapse with the same products, machinery etc. Harman produced the same Ilford films, paper etc as had been the case before. Since the inauguration of Harman it bought Kentmere and now produces Kentmere paper and Kentmere films which are different to Ilford paper and films.

There has never been any films under the Harman name. The only thing called Harman I know of is the Harman direct positive paper.

Harman may or may not produce other products for other companies but those products are not the same as Harman products.

The new company called Pemberstone bought Harman but to-date the product range remains as before.

Are you suggesting that without any announcement, Pemberstone is now simply rebranding, say Ilford paper and selling it as Kentmere?

I am confused as to what you think Harman is doing that has changed since Pemberstone bought it?

Can you explain what you think has changed and give us any evidence of a change or changes that you have seen?

The photo store in my area Photo Mart Scottsdale AZ , wanted to sell me a 250 sheet boy of Harman B&W 8X10 paper, they order for one of the few schools that still teachs B&W photography. In terms of how all of this evolved, my thought was that if Adorama house brand is made in the EU and is not FOMA then it likely made by Harman, but not rebranded Ilford, a different emulsion. Has Harman's policy concerning selling Ilford products to 3rd parties changed? I would think not, but then again new owners, and if they do would they announce it?

When I was shopping around to different papers last year I did try a packet of Adorma paper, it did not seem to me be Foma which is my standard paper.

This paper to me after trying it couple of nights is like Ilford MG FB glossy. Filteration with color head is the same, difference is that it tones in selenium (1+19) faster than Ilford. This is just what I noticed with my eyes and there's no experiments to support or prove that

Harman also custom coats, we do not know if Adroman, B&H or Photo Warehouse buys a Harman standard paper and just rebrands or if they are custom coating using a emulsion formula they own. Seemed to me that B&H multitude, Photo Warehouse and Adromona were all the same emulsion. I use Photo Warehouse paper for work prints, but do most of my final printing on Foma or Salvich. Either way if your final print gives you the results you are looking for then use what works at the best cost.

Just cut up a sheet in 1" wide strips. Run it through critical areas, say portrait eyes and hair, or clouds and foreground for a landscape.
You should be able to scale up the time from contact sheet to 11x14. or make the contact at same enlarger height as 11x14. Shorten time 5% for the contact frame glass. There will also be a difference if the enlarger is condenser as the contact is effectively a diffusion. You will need 1 grade more contrast for contact if enlarger is condenser type.. Write down what you learn as it will be a constant forever. Do not screw around with different papers or there is one more variable.
