Yesterday, I mixed up a fresh batch of Kodak HCA in the usual manner. Today, there is a solid white mass on the bottom of the jug that doesn't want to dissolve no matter how much I shake it. Any ideas as to what it is and how to get it to dissolve?

Yeah,

You didnt quite get it disolved.

You won't get it to either. If you like, decant the solution and use it as is. You won't see any ill effects. If Sodium sulfite doesn't get completely dissolved, this is the result.

Not a big deal, just not the best practice. Not to worry. Stir a little bit more next time. Use what you have now, it should work just fine.

Returned to the darkroom after the weekend and the solid had gone into solution:D
