I am wanting to do some B&W," white on white" still life shots. Just an experiment to learn lighting technique.

I have two 10", 250w, 3200K spots. I have 2 silver umbrellas and 2 white umbrellas and also diffusers that fit over the reflectors.

What I want to achieve is that silvery white look with nice steely grays in the shadows.

How would you light it?

I'd suggest that you get a copy of Light, Science, & Magic. Great on the fundamentals of lighting, and it answers your question very specifically.

2nd edition is just as good as the 3rd edition if you're only shooting film.
