The other day I saw some white boxes of Impossible film with a "2.0" designation on the cover. My understanding is that v2.0 is better in terms of developing time, archival quality, and a better opaque layer means it can develop while being in normal light.

That's what I thought I'd bought last year, but my boxes don't have "2.0". They have manufacturing dates of Jan. through April of 2015.

Do I have the not-so-good batch that you have to let develop in darkness and even then the quality is not great either?

Eventually I'll find out...

Yes, the 2.0 is clearly marked as such, even the prototypes they sent to me for testing.

I'd not wait to shoot them...they don't age gracefully.
