I'm in the process of shopping for a new laptop that will replace my aging Gatway desktop...now approaching five years old...and a scanner....

Freestyle www.freestylephoto.biz has two scanners that caught my eye:

1. Epson 2480 @ $100 http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_prod.php?cat_id=1709&pid=1000000235

2. Epson 3170 @ $200 http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_prod.php?cat_id=1709&pid=5876

Would appreciate your thoughts...I'm not on the ROAD to going DIGITAL...no way....I only want to post my work on my web site to be and on APUG.

Cheers
Chuck

If you just want to scan your prints number 1 is more than enough. But if you plan to scan your negatives I recommend number 2 because it has better resolution. But when you only will be using the scan online that really doesn't matter. The higher resolution is only usable when you want to scan, work on the file and print it.

I use a Canon 1200 dpi scanner, but rarely scans at high resolution...
