WHICH PRINTER TO BUY?

Hi.

Bought a computer and my old inkjet printer doesn't work on it so I need to buy a new consumer printer that will both do documents and high-quality photo printing. Any suggestions?

what is your budget and what is the largest size print you will be making?

I don't really know what the price range is...but I'm thinking I don't really want to go much more than $300. Largest I'll probably print is 8 1/2 by 11". Anything else I'll get done professionally.

you might check on epson's site, they have frequent sales which may offer free shipping.

just recently they had a 1400 with rebate in that price range. this is a dye printer (if i remember correctly)

it really is amazing what the lower range printers can do these days; however, that is also going to depend on what your expections may be.

for occasional use i know some have had great results with an epson c88 plus, an inexpensive printer that does make nice prints for home use.

if you selling photos as fine art you may need to consider something that will use pigment inks.

i have been very please with an HP 9180 but that is more than your budget and i don't use it for documents only fine art prints.
