Agfa Agfamatic 2008

(a type 110 camera with minox-type cocking/transport. Basic, but well made)

Don't know, I don't go into either of these places.

I went to Bodrum years ago and there was a agfa with orange buttons and black body was at the thrift store. Second hand market have everything in Istanbul , magnum leicas to giant noblexes to panoramic cameras. Darko visited that area and may be have different opinion ?

Vivitar & Canon sureshot p&s all varieties

Haven't been to one in awhile but it used to be inexpensive film cameras, usually point and shoot. I may have to run by and look. Lordy knows what I may find.

Most of the higher grade cameras and lenses end up in Pawn Shops around here.

Yes, fleamarkets are filled with consumer grade cameras. A lot of fix-anything to elaborated compact zooms up to SLR's. The sheer variety of models makes it difficult to point a single model. But that certain Agfamatic model quite sure is the winner.

Except for a bunch of plastic LF cassettes and one strange copying box I never came across professional stuff...

The variety of consumer models nevertheless hold in surprises again and again.

Actually when I was in Istanbul I did not visited any second hand store there , but next time can go together .

Minolta

Aside from junk cameras I see a lot of Minolta SLRs at very low prices. That is probably why I have too many of them. Some Minoltas are very fine cameras with great glass but it would seem they don't get a lot of respect for some reason.
