I really like Emulsion so far. I also subscribe to Black & White Photography (UK).
I have stopped buying or even browsing through other magazines in the newsstands.

Like most of us with GAS, it's most likely our disease has metastasized to magazines too. Which magazines do you buy on a regular basis or subscribe to? ....
Regards, Art. (Thank goodness I never subscribed to Emulsion - I had a gut feeling that would turn out bad)

Art,

Is there something about Emulsion we should know about?

It is about time for Issue #3.

Amateur Photographer every week
Practical Photographer monthly on subscription which will soon be replaced with a subscription to:
Back and White Photography (UK)

That's it really. I tend to buy photography books from secondhand shops instead of magazines - usually for the same price. e.g. this weekend I bought Linda McCartney's 1960's book for £2.99 which is about the same as you would pay for a monthly magazine here.

Steve.

Steve,

I'm with you on this. I recently bought Annie Leibovitz's "1996 Olympics" book at a usedbooks store for about the same price (i.e. USD 5.00)!

I subscribe:
Silvershotz
View Camera
Lenswork
and quite often buy B&W (thinking about subscribing this one but varying reproduction quality makes me thinking twice) and some others.

B&W[UK] on subscription, outstanding mag in my view, gave up on the rest when " D " became god in their eyes.

I currently have subscriptions to Lenswork, Aperture, B&W and View Camera.

My plans are to pick up Silvershotz (a UK based magazine), renew Lenswork and Aperture, and perhaps B&W. I do not plan to renew View Camera when my current subscription lapses.

I haven't subscribed to propaganda in over 24 years. (Just kidding . . . no magazines). On the brighter side, Freestyle Photographic Supplies sent me a really nice catalog with my last order.

Although I have all numbers from #1, I have recently subscribed to B&W UK. From time to time, I buy B&W US an one Spanish mag call FV that seems to be closing down.

Real Photography!

Hey Art!
Every once in a while, I'll pick up a copy of B&W if I know someone here is featured. I'll also snag an occasional copy of Photo Techniques cause they still deal with "Real" photography stuff & darkroom stuff.

As for Emulsion... I love it! If putting out a good magazine that deals with "real" photography = "turning out bad" then I wish to heck that more photo magazines would 'turn out bad'. Too bad you missed the boat on that one! Great articles & high quality printing.

It's kind of like supporting APUG... why would anyone not support all things dedicated to film-based photography?

I support your feelings and opinions here... I am still looking for a quality mag that supports just straight photography. No digital crap, not even ads or articles involving digital. Where do you get Emulsion....or Photo Techniques?? Are they available at fine book & magazine outlets.
The only other ones I had most recently checked out were View Camera, (which had digital crap in it), and I think Camera Arts. So far, I subscribe to none, but I appreciate your high endorsements of those you mentioned. Nice to know there are a few of us left.
