Hey Guys,
I'm considering getting a 75mm Leica M lens.
The current new lenses, the f2 and the f1.25 are both out of my price range.
Have you used any of the earlier models?
What did you like?
Thanks.

I'm not certain if you want to consider only lenses made by Leica, or any M mount lens, but Voigtlander (Cosina) has made four 75mm lenses recently.
I have the 75/1.5 which I like very much except for the size. I also have the older 75/2.5 which is LTM but easily adapted, also a fine lens and much more compact.

I still use the Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 which has the advantage of being light and far cheaper than the older Leica f/2.5 Summarit. Ah, but the Leica lens will be better, obviously, well no, when Sean Reid compared them they were directly comparable in every department and his advice was to choose the one which rendered to your liking.
This is a bit late but I wanted to add my two cents to this question. I purchased a Summilux 75 f1.4 Canada. I have used it for years and the images are fantastic. I would recommend this lens. It was designed by Leica's top lens designer in Canada. It's heavy. Sharpe, fast f1.4, built-in lens hood.

The 75/2.4 I had was very sharp with pleasant rendering, good colors. It matched well with my 35mm Summicron ASPH and I used both as a set when traveling. Lately I have the 75mm f1.9 from Voigtlander which seems around the same size and weight with closer focus and a wider f stop. I prefer the colors the Leica delivers however.
