Which holder for Type 55 - 545/5451/545Pro

Which holder is recommended for Polaroid Type 55 film.....

I see the 545; the 545i and the 545Pro

any comments about these...is any one of them an upgrade or tweak model that makes life easier?

If your shopping, the 545 will do you the best but all of these will work. HOWEVER, on a standard 4x5 camera. If your doing something off cuff, such as the Polaroid 600se you will need a specific back. I'm selling my last box of 55 now on that web site. The neg's are AMAZING!

All three will work - depending on your needs, the 545 is, to many people, the most robust (all metal), the 545i is lighter, and the 545 pro has a built-in timer with thermostat so all you have to do is select the film type you're using and it will automatically calculate the correct processing time for you. I have the Pro, because of the timer factor and because it is lighter in weight than the original 545. I got tired of lugging around the extra mass of the heavier processor.

I think it's worth mentioning more, the neg on this film is perhaps the very best neg one can get from ANY film. With the right back you dont have to "process" thru the rollers in the field by simply pressing on the "R" lever and then replacing the sheet when you get home, back into the back, and pulling thru the rollers.
You do this because to save the neg you must place into a solution. I have the chem solution if your interested in learning, but in the field, if you pull thru the rollers, to save the neg you must have a zip lock bag of water to keep it wet.

Hi there, basically i've never shot Type 55. I posted about me getting it on another thread as you know and now I'm looking at making a shot. Luckily - since I wrote this thread! - a good friend of mine told me he actually HAS a 545 holder to loan me.
I have a pack of 5L. Kodak Hypo clearing agent (I bought it a few months ago) which will work with this as well am i right?

I STRONGLY receommend a 18 pct solution of the sodium prior to they hypo.
Again, ONLY do this right after "processing" the sheet thru the rollers.
If you are looking for a sealed box of 20 sheets I just put mine up on that auction site. The last boxes went on Polapremium for $250. and that is a SHAME! I could never do that.
You will be blown away with the neg. The pos is pretty cool too but that neg is amazing with it's tonal range. I still can't get it with any of my films. I hope they bring it back soon. This is why it's in such high demand.
Anyway, without fail, use that 18 pct solution and you'll be happy happy.
