I wish to make my own Gold toner for both kallitype and silver prints. There are many formulas available on the internet but I'm not fully sure which I should use. Ideally I'd like to be able to mix it up, bottle it, and use over a period of months. Can anyone recommend a formula they have been using this way with success? Up until now I have been using Fotospeed and Bergger gold toners.

I've only used a gold toner for Kallitypes. This is what I've used:

1% gold chloride 50ml
1% thiourea 50ml
tartaric acid 0.5g
distilled water to make 1000ml

I found that if I use as little solution as possible, you can stretch its life a bit.

Thanks Andrew, I saw that recipe elsewhere and it was described as keeping well for a number of months. Do you re-use it or just as one-shot?

Also, what tone does it provide on your kallitypes?
