Not sure how to identify the actual part; in this case it is the small ring mounted on the front of the lens that has the lettering "VOIGTLANDER COLOR-SKOPAR 35mmF2.5". It unexpectedly fell off while using it on a brief photo walk and fortunately I found it before someone stepped on it. Anyway, it appears to have been attached to the lens body by three small spots of glue. Any suggestions on what type of glue to use to fix it? I am thinking contact cement but other suggestions welcome.

I've used SILICONE SEALANT when I want a good, but not PERMANENT glue. I've used it to attach filter rings to the front of lenses that lacked them. That way, if I want to remove it, it can be done -- without scratching the lens. Using Epoxy or Contact Cement will work, but can pose a problem later on. You could start out with sealant, and if it's not strong enough for your needs, simply remove it, and use the others.

That is an excellent idea -- I'll try that. Thanks!

Elmers glue works well. Alcohol will soften it for removal. Remove old cement, put three to five very small dots around ring and install.

I concur on white glue, as Dan suggests. The specific glue I’ve come to use is Aileen’s Tacky Glue. It gets tacky and starts to set a bit quicker than Elmer’s traditional white glue so parts have less chance of slipping out of place in the initial process. Takes about same time for final dry/cure. After that it’s stuck yet removable if needed.
