I indulged my inner mad scientist and bought a lab coat to protect against light splashes. The fit's comfortable, with snap fasteners for quick setup.

Before that I used the Tyvek apron from Photographer's Formulary, but I got tired of the strings.

What's your style?

Lab coats are the way to go for safety.

That said, I usually forget to wear it + gloves unless I'm working with something nasty like nitrates or concentrated acids.

Generally, I just wear my normal causal clothes, unless I'm working with pyro where I'll wear an old shirt typically used for yard work.

Black leather apron I picked up cheap from the Leather Works chain. It's patchwork and set me back a whole $10. I hang towels from the straps on each side, keep a roll of electrical tape and an amber LED light in the pocket. It's lightproof enough that I can carry my cell phone in the pocket and not worry about stray light when it goes off.

A friend made a darkroom apron for me - from material with a print image that resembles many 35mm film cassettes. It is so nice I am reluctant to use it!

I've got a lab coat that used to be white--now more cream-colored with age. But I keep it because it has "Fujifilm" embroidered over the pocket. Sometimes I even wear it....

Whatever clothes that I am no longer allowed to wear when we meet other persons. That makes quite a substantial warderobe. :D

Black clothes to avoid reflecting light spill from the enlarger back to the photographic paper on the baseboard. With a thick negative and lots of burning and dodging to do I could be leaning over the sensitive paper for a minute or more.

I wear whatever I'm wearing when I walk into the darkroom.
Quite often, especially this time of year, it's sweatpants and a sweatshirt hoodie.

Would not a black apron be sufficient?

Clean long sleeve shirts and Levi's. Clean clothes go in the dryer before I go in the darkroom.

No, Greg set a new trend. Furthermore darkness is only leaking from the front (as is spilling light). Such Apron should be protection enough against both.

whatever I am wearing. The only darkroom specific apparel that I have is a pair of Crocs that I keep in there. This prevents me from tracking dust in there and keeps my feet feeling good while standing for hours.

Usually jeans that I don't wear in nice places (fine for Walmart, but not Target) and a dark top. I usually wear my APUG sweatshirt as well - it's black, so doesn't show stains and doesn't reflect light onto the paper. Since it's almost 15 years old, it's getting ratty, but I still love it.
