The prism makes all the difference, it seems. Although the CF-1 case is listed among those compatible with the F2, alas the beautiful example I ordered from KEH was just too shallow to accommodate the prism on my camera. Any experiences with Nikon cases that will fit over the DP-2 finder? I'm sticking with the 50mm lens for now.
Waaaayyy back when in 1979, when i bought my first Nikon (a black F2AS), I allowed a salesperson to talk me into purchasing a CH-5 "never ready" hard case to protect said camera. I had the camera in the case for about 15 minutes after I returned from London Drugs (where I purchased the gem) and soon realized the case was fine for storage but would be something of an encumberance shooting-wise. I have no idea whatever happened to the thing...
AFAIK, the CH-5 or (possibly) the CH-1 should fit your bill.
CF-1 is a semi-soft version of the CH-1. I'd look for a CS-12. It's more of a leather wrap in how soft it is, but that means it may be flexible enough to go over the DP-2 finder, which, yes, sticks up more than the other DP-series finders for the F2.
Thank you! The CS-12 seems like the probable solution; I plan to continue carrying the camera in a Lowepro shoulder bag, and a soft case might be somewhat lighter. Off to KEH!
