which bromoil paper?

Hi,
i currently use kentmere art document and have some left.
But what now? This has gone and also bergger brom 240.

Which available papers are 'good' to be used for bromoil???

I believe our resident Bromoil maestro (Gene Laughter) uses Kentmere Finegrain VC warmtone. There is a special Bromoil paper sold by Fotoimpex.

i've read that gene uses the kentmere finegrain. ever since i'm wondering if the non-finegrain kentmere works too?

Another paper that has recently emerged is the Foma Fomabrom Variant 123, which is a semimatte and grainy surface much reminiscent to the old Agfa MCC 118. It is supposed to work very well with Bromoil; this is according to Freestyle and Foma. I haven't seen anybody actually use it yet.

Kentmere Finegrain WT is being discontinued by Ilford, so I would probably avoid that paper if you wish to make bromoil prints for a good long while and have consistent results.

Has anybody tried to use some adox paper for bromoil such as the variotone or nuance?

Don't know about Variotone, but I believe the Nuance is the same paper as Fotokemika Emaks, a paper I have never heard mentioned in bromoil discussions. But I thought the fact that they are one and the same might help your question, perhaps.

I fortunately use LE for my bromoils, so I don't have a problem.....

Emil, are those the old 532 and 542? Or the new 532-II or 542-II. The surface is completely different between the two, and the 532 and 542 have been discontinued. The 532-II and 542-II are in production.

Thomas - I just read it today at the website, so I am quite sure it is the "II"'s...

But I havnt tried it as you know.

I love the neutral tone version of this paper for bromoil - NOT WARMTONE!
