Hi all
Planning to travel from Europe on a few days journey to New York, and I am asking on some advice on where to buy there the gear that we like, analog cameras, old cameras, and all that stuff, darkroom, second hand... Already know about B & H in Manhantan, but can you advice some others?
Thank you.

I've never been there, but I order from them - how about Adorama? They seem to have a lot of film, paper, chemicals, cameras, etc. Certainly worth a look.

Don't know

I don't know about New York City but in many parts of the U. S. older camera stores that are going out of the film business and into digital sometimes have some great bargains. Then there are flea markets and so on. I bought a very nice Rolleiflex at an outdoor antique and junk market for $180 not long ago.

Weekend flea market on 25th and 6th avenue usually has a few things to look at. One in bet. 6-7ave in an inside parking garage and the other is bet. 5-6 ave. and is outside. I have seen more photo stuff at the outside then inside market. Also the outside market has a table or two that sell really nice older prints.

Hi Raul,

Buy as much Kodak and Ilford films as possible. Because they are the cheapest (no VAT). Perhaps some Fuji slides too as USA has the 2nd cheapest prices after Japan. If you buy from the counter (or from same state where you'll be staying), you may have to pay a sales tax*, but it is lot less than various EU countries. I do not know if USA has a similar tax free shopping option for international travelers in Japan.
* This tax is applicable only in certain states, not all. NY is included. You'll find those info at Adorama, BHP's websites.
Thanks everyone. It might just be useful when I travel to the USA.

Bests,

Ashfaque
